Zagros Nomad Tour-14 days

The Zagros mountain ranges were formed millions of years ago at Paleozoic period with a total length of 1,600 km (990 mi). It begins in northwestern Iran and roughly follows Iran’s western border, ending at the Strait of Hormuz. The highest point is Mount Dena, at 4,409 metres (14,465 ft). The people and nomads were living on or near these mountain ranges since thousands of years ago. In this trip we will visit the nomads and people and villages on the slope of these mountain range.

Have the chance of meeting Iranian nomads of Qashqai and enjoy spending a few days in their tent and experience their lifestyle, hospitality and join them to make bread, weave Persian carpets, and take the goats and sheep out, milking the goat or cow for breakfast and to come together with other families and have a good time.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arriving Tehran, visiting Tehran

Arrive in Tehran airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time you may visit some places like Sa’ad Abad Complex with 18 magnificent historical palaces (2 of which we will visit) and tajrish traditional bazaar. O/N Tehran

 

Day 2: Visiting Tehran, fly to Shiraz

In the morning visit the Archeological Museum, National Jewels Museum and UNESCO world heritage Golestan palace and traditional bazaar, Carpet Museum,then in the evening you will be transferred to the airport to fly to Shiraz. O/N Shiraz

 

Day 3: Shiraz

City tour of Shiraz to visit Nasiro- Molk Mosque (pink mosque), Narenjestan palace& museum, tombs of great Persian poet Hafez , world heritage Eram Garden, then in the afternoon visit Vakil complex (Bazaar, Citadel and Bath) and the Shrine of Shah-Cheragh. O/N Shiraz

 

Day 4:  Persepolis-Yasuj

Drive to world heritage site of Persepolis, Naghsh-e-Rostam (Necropolis), and drive to Yasuj. O/N Yasuj

 

DAY 5. Yasuj

Dena Mountains (possible choices):

1.Drive to Sisakht, then from there we will trek to the Dare Naderi waterfalls or Bijan peak (depending on the season) for about 6 to 7 hours walking through the beautiful nature. O/N in Tent

2.Drive to Sisakht, then from there we will trek to the Golkuh Lake region (1hr), passing through a wonderful acorn-forested area, with an altitude of 2200 metres. Afterwards drive to the Abzardu spring near Sisakhat then from there trek to the Gulkuh lake for about an hour at an altitude of 2600 metres and from the lake we can continue trekking in the shadows of the stunning 4000 metre peaks of the Dena range of the Zagros Mountains. O/N in Tent

3.Drive to Sisakht, then from there we will trek to the Golkuh Lake region (1hr), passing through a wonderful acorn-forested area, with an altitude of 2200 metres. Afterwards drive to the Abzardu spring near Sisakhat and there you can spend the day relaxing by the spring. (whole trip about 5-6hrs), drive back to Yasuj. O/N in Tent

 

DAY 6. Yasuj -semirom

After breakfast drive to semirom and on the way visit Khafr mountainous village with various plant and animal species and 14 peaks over 4,000 meters, as well as beautiful natural glaciers, numerous waterfalls and caves and gardens of yellow plums, black plums, apricot, apple, and walnut trees, and because of very cold and snowy winters, the village is called white hell.O/N in semirom,Tent

 

DAY 7.semirom-Shahre kord

Drive to another Nomad area; Shahr-e- kord. Stay with Bakhtiayari Nomads. O/N in Tent

 

DAY 8.Shahre kord-Isfahan

Drive to Isfahan and visit the Armenian cathedral (Vank Church), and the famous bridges of Isfahan. O/N Isfahan

 

DAY 9. Isfahan

Visit the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site of Royal (Naghshe Jahan Square): the second biggest square in the world including (Ali Qapu Palace, Imam Mosque, Sheikh-Lotfollah Mosque, Bazaar) and the visit Chehel sotun palace (40 pillars) and hasht behesht garden. O/N Isfahan

 

Day 10: Abyaneh –Kashan

After visiting Abyaneh village (with its intact architecture, old houses and wooden doors and meeting people with traditional and colorful costumes) , go to Kashan to see Fin Garden, Agha Bozorg Mosque & School and historical houses of Tabatabaie and Broojerdi. O/N Kashan

 

DAY 11. Hamedan

Drive to Hamedan and on the way visit the world’s largest water cave with stalactites and stalagmites formed during millions of years. O/N Hamadan

 

DAY 12. Hamedan

visit the ancient city and ruins of Hegmatana (Ecbatana) and its museum and Cristian church, shrine of Esther & Mordecai, the most important Jewish pilgrimage site in Iran and city center and the bazzar then you can go to the Ganjname inscriptions of Darius the great and Xerxes and waterfall and visit Lak nomad on Alvand mountains after using the cable cars to get to up the mountain. O/N Hamadan

 

Day 13:  Kermanshah

An excursion to Kermanshah to visit Bisotun a UNESCO world heritage site of which has inscriptions of Darius the great and remains dating back to pre-historic times, ruins of two thousand year old Anahita water temple and Sasanid rock reliefs. O/N Hamadan

 

Day 14: Tehran

In the morning visit the tomb of a great Persian polymath called Ibne Sina  or Abu Ali Sina often known in the west as Avicenna (c. 980 – June 1037) regarded as one of the most significant physicians, astronomers, thinkers and writers described as the father of modern medicine, then drive to the IKA int airport in Tehran.
