This walking tour is designed to get familiar with the most remarkable sites of Yazd known as the city of wind catchers.

 

Itinerary:

Drive to Towers of Silence at 8:00 am . Head for Fire Temple. Walk to Zoroastrian Museum. Afterwards pay a visit to Amir Chakhmagh Complex. Drive or walk to Jame’ Mosque At the end visit Dolat Abad Garden.

Dakhme (Towers of Silence): A very tranquil Zoroastrian  burial site which includes circular platform for exposing the dead to the elements and vultures.

Fire Temple: A Zoroastrian ritual place which has inherited a holy flare burning for 1400 years nonstop.

Zoroastrian Museum: Visiting this rich museum you will get some information about Zoroastrians’ costumes and rituals.

Amir Chakhmagh Complex: The most outstanding monument in Yazd. The front portal which holds the ruler’s high seat and facing the gathering square is the prime part of the complex.

Yazd Jame’ Mosque: This 800 years old mosque has got many things to be proud of, the tallest minarets, the completely inlayed portal, the impressive doom and the Qanat access stair ways are some examples.

Dolat Abad Garden: An ambitious reproduction of paradise in the heart of desert. The mansion has got the tallest Badgir.

Highlights: ChakChak a holy Zoroastrian pilgrimage place, old village of Kharanaq, Ancient castle and town of Meibod.

 

Today is a full day excursion to the ancient villages of Meibod, Kharanaq and the most important Zoroastrians shrine.

 

Itinerary:

Drive early in the morning to Kharanaq Historic Village, a 4500-year-old village with many historical monuments at every corner. Then head to the most important Zoroastrians shrine, Chak Chak , where you will get to know about the customs and rituals of Zoroastrians. Afterwards go to Meybod to visit Pigeon Tower, Shah Abbasi Caravanserai, have lunch and visit  Meybod Yakhchal, an adobe structure used to keep ice inside for summer.
